:: Hat Creek

This paving project on Highway 99, north of Cache Creek included removal of existing asphalt pavement by profiling and paving 47,000 tonnes over 40 single lane kilometres.

Exceptional End Product Specification bonuses totalling 110 % of the contract quantity were achieved on this project. EAC consistently achieves some of the highest paving performance bonuses in the province.

While on this project, a quick response by EAC forces to a nearby forest fire prevented the spread of a potential major fire. The Ministry of Forests recognized and thanked the paving crew for their efforts. Up

    Vancouver Island Highway Project

Work on this section of the Vancouver Island Inland Highway Project, completed in 1999, included crushing, mixing and placing 100,000 tonnes of asphalt on 18 kms of newly constructed highway from Tsable River to Cumberland.

Bonuses in excess of $150,000 were achieved for all aspects of production and workmanship, and were the highest paid by the Ministry of Transportation under their new End Product Specifications (EPS). EPS contain acceptance and payment criteria based on the results of specified testing. Payment of the contract unit prices for the Asphalt Pavement is subject to adjustments upward and downward.

This project received exceptional ratings for smoothness, and was rated by visitors from California Transportation as "the best ever".
